Stellan Skarsgard was interviewed by The Ray D’Arcy Show on February 3rd and mentioned Alex…
The Ray D’Arcy Show: A number of your childen have, not obviously the 2 1/2 year old, but a number of your other children have followed you into acting.
Stellan Skarsgard: Yeah
RDS: When they were kids were you sort of going “Now, whatever you do, don’t do acting” or did you always encourage them to do it?
Stellan: I have tried to interfere as little as possible in their lives because I don’t want to be responsible for what happens. (laughs) So, they’ve seen me and they know about the business. They have no illusions about the sort of glamour of being an actor which is good. Obviously they’ve seen that I’m enjoying myself. Like Alexander, who’s now very successful in America. He did not want to become an actor, definitely not, for many years.
RDS: What did he want to be?
Stellan: I don’t know what he wanted to be but I know what he didn’t want to be because he didn’t like the sort of official side of it and the press and all that stuff. It’s a pain in the ass but you learn to live with it.
RDS: Ask how he liked acting next to his son in Melanchia (listener question).
Stellan: All the three stars that are acting, I’ve worked with all three of them but this is the first time that I’ve had a scene with Alexander. It’s great and it’s fun working with someone that you’re so close to. To a certain extent, you’re the same organism which means that when you start talking about a scene you notice that you instantly have the same view on things. But it’s also kind of silly. Someone you know that well that is standing in front of you pretending to be somebody else, it makes you giggle.

OMG, I don’t know why I didn’t know until just now that Alexander is Stellan’s son, but I didn’t. Coooooooool. Makes Alexander even more smokin.
